"Preserving a Local Treasure"

For Dianne Bohlken, preserving WYUKA's rich history and horticulture is very dear to her heart.. "The Cemetery has been a very vital part of the community which can be seen through the landscape architecture and plantings. Through continued beautification maintenace, we ensure WYUKA's presence as Lincoln's choice in cemetery selection."
-Dianne Bohlken, Horticulturist & Arborist

The management and staff of WYUKA Cemetery & Funeral Home is committed to providing and maintaining the most beautiful and honorable cemetery in Nebraska. Floral decorations are welcomed and highly encouraged. In order to ensure the beauty and the dignity of the grounds and mausoleum areas, the following floral regulations are necessary.

The planting of flowers, shrubbery, ground cover, trees, etc. is not permitted by persons other than the maintenance staff, or an approved local nursery with management approval.

New graves may be decorated with floral sprays and arrangements immediately following interment. These decorations will be removed by the grounds staff, when the decorations become unsightly or one week following the interment.

Christmas grave blankets and wreaths are allowed during the months of December and January. These will be removed by grounds maintenance staff no earlier than March 31st.

Graves may be decorated in any reasonable manner during Memorial Day celebrations, beginning the Friday preceding Memorial Day and continuing through the following weekend. Decorations other than those contained in permanent vases and urns will be removed by the grounds maintenance staff on the Monday following Memorial Day. No glass containers or wire anchors will be allowed.

During all times not specified above, floral decorations are only allowed in regulation vases and urn pots. Vases not in use are to be inserted into the ground.

WYUKA assumes NO responsibility for vandalism, theft or the destruction of vases or floral decorations by causes beyond our control.

Nebraska weather conditions are both extreme and unpredictable therefore; all floral arrangements must be securely fastened. Material such as wire and wooden stakes that could be dangerous and damaging to mowing equipment must not be used. The grounds maintenance staff will remove floral arrangements that have been weather damaged or wind blown for the regulation vases.

All flowers will be removed from permanent vases, concrete urns, mausoleum and columbarium fronts during the Annual Fall Cleanup from October 1 thru October 10. If you choose to save your floral decorations, they need to be picked no later than September 30th. Flowers may be returned to vases and concrete urns, mausoleum and columbarium fronts on October 11.

We greatly appreciate your assistance in helping us keep WYUKA Cemetery beautiful and dignified by following these regulations.
