Julia Lorraine Teeters
November 12, 1944 – April 30, 2025
Julia Lorraine Teeters, 80, of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on April 30, 2025. Born November 12, 1944, in Loup City, Nebraska to Douglas and Georgia Mills.
Julia retired in 2003 from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where she worked as a Secretary Specialist for the Plant Pathology department.
In her free time, she enjoyed bird watching, specifically her bluebirds, and tending to her many flower gardens. She especially loved spending time with her family and close friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Georgia (James) Caraway; son, Maxwell Teeters; grandson, Branden Caraway; granddaughter, Heidi (Cristian) Pompa; great-granddaughter, Mia Pompa; sister, Edna Ferguson; and brothers, Tom and John Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bixby Teeters; parents; sisters, Linda Mills and Mary Williams; and brothers, George Mills, Gordon (Curly) Mills, and Douglas lll (Bill) Mills.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln, NE 68510.
Burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, 8400 Adams Street, Lincoln, NE 68507.
Visitation with family present from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Wyuka Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
Julia will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Julie was a wonderful loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and sister-in-law. She will be missed greatly by so many who loved her. Prayers for her family. May God hold them in His loving arms during this time of loss.
I met Julie when I was Secretary for
Plant Pathology Extension. Julie was so kind to me as I started my new job at Plant Path. Julie was so fun to be around
& she had an infectious laugh! She will not be forgotten! Thinking of Julie’s family during this difficult time.
