Wanda Elaine Dusenberry was born on January 21, 1926, in Mills County, Iowa to Johnnie and Bessie (Pearson) Fischer. Elaine passed away shortly after celebrating her 100th birthday on January 23, 2026. She passed peacefully in Lincoln, Nebraska surrounded by her granddaughter and great-granddaughter.

Elaine’s greatest passion in life was taking care of the people she loved. On May 26, 1946, she married the greatest love of her life, Neal H. Dusenberry. Over the course of his career the couple lived all over the world. Offutt Air Force Base brought them to Lincoln, Nebraska where they bought a home in 1958. Elaine spent the rest of her life in Lincoln. In May of 1947, Elaine’s only child, Kathy, was born.

Elaine spent her time listening to music and spending time with her loved ones. She will be remembered as a conversationist with a passionate spirit. She had a generous heart. Elaine took pride in taking care of her home.

Elaine is survived by granddaughter and husband Lisa and George Hayes, Lincoln; great-granddaughter Elizabeth Hayes, Lincoln; sister Karen Braun, Omaha. She is proceeded in death by her parents Johnnie and Bessie (Pearson) Fischer; daughter Kathy Reid; husband Neal H. Dusenberry; sister Darlene Dennis.

Celebration of Life will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 31, 2026, at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln. Viewing will take one hour prior to service. Memorials may be directed to Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach. https://www.mtko.org/donate
