Obituary

Stephen “Wanbli Wiyaka” Langston

Stephen Langston, who was given the honorary name Wanbli Wiyaka (Eagle Feather), passed away on July 12, 2026, at the age of 75 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born on September 30, 1950, in Rockport, Texas, to Charles “Chuck” Langston and Edna Mae Langston (Titus).

Stephen was a stubborn teddy bear with a generous heart who would gladly give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He will be remembered for the many jokes he played and the countless hours he spent in his shed creating and repairing projects for others.

Stephen dedicated 35 years to the concrete industry and was also proud to have earned his culinary certificate. In his free time, he enjoyed fixing motorcycles, taking on welding projects, tending to the flowers he planted throughout his yard, and, most of all, caring for his beloved cat, Gunner.

Those who knew him best will remember his sense of humor, caring nature, and deep love for his family and friends. He especially enjoyed telling dirty jokes, a quirk that often brought laughter to those around him.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Pamela Langston; his children, Michelle and Fred Bernt, Steve Langston Jr., and Faith Fowler; his brothers, Dave and Pat Langston, Jack Anthony, Tom Anthony, and Doug Anthony; his sisters, Karen DeCeaser and Cheryl and Joe Swartz; his grandchildren, Jay, Anthony, Jeff, Zach, Oliver, and Dylan; four great-grandchildren; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Edna Mae Langston; his brothers, Gene Langston, Gary Anthony, Bill Anthony, Dick Anthony, and Ray Anthony; his sister, Glenda Hahn; and his mother-in-law, Daisy Anthony.

A Celebration of Stephen’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln.

For those wishing to make a gesture of remembrance, memorial contributions to the family for future designation would be deeply appreciated.
