Lola Cartselos Pabian, age 56, passed away August 13, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born August 10, 1970, in New York, New York to Elpiniki and Charles Cartselos. Though not a Nebraska native, she made many close friends and found community during her twenty-one years in Lincoln.
Lola was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend to many. She was someone who everyone was always excited to see. She had a vibrant personality, and a true gift for connecting with others and making them feel seen.
She was a first-generation college graduate, earning her bachelor’s from New York University. She continued her education at Brooklyn Law School and completed her Juris Doctor in 1995. Lola had a career as a lawyer, and then later as a recruiter at an actuarial firm.
After the birth of her children, she began to work for Lincoln Public Schools as a paraeducator. She found her work with special education students to be very fulfilling and went above and beyond to meet the individual needs of her students. She eventually became a Registered Behavior Technician at Stride Autism Centers, where she administered ABA therapy for autistic children. She had a passion for teaching and learning how to better understand her students.
Lola loved her children, the students she worked with, and her friends and family very dearly. She loved cheering on her son, Jake, at all his sporting events. She loved the beach, animals, mint chocolate-chip ice cream, and reading mystery novels. She loved winning at the board game “Clue.” She was someone who was always present in the lives of those she loved. Loved ones will miss her witty comments, the sound of her laughter, and her hugs. She impacted the lives of all who met her, no matter how long they knew her.
Lola is survived by her mother, Elpiniki Cartselos; children, Jason and Jacob Pabian; sister, Sophie Cartselos; brother, George (Regina) Cartselos; and numerous family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Charles T. Cartselos, and brother, Charles Cartselos.

Lola was just the sweetest always had a bubbly personality and a big hug for everyone!! Lola will deeply be missed, such a wonderful friend and family to our daughter, she blessed many lives! ❤️
I knew Lola from law school, and I feel truly fortunate to have known her. She was incredibly smart, ambitious, hardworking, and strong, but she also had such a loving, caring, and joyful spirit. Lola was the kind of person who worked hard, but still know how to have fun.
More than anything, she was a loyal and genuine friend—someone whose presence, laughter, and warmth made a lasting impression. I will always cherish the memories we shared and the wonderful person she was. Lola will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Lola was a very special kind of person. She was a loving mother and a friend to many. The infectious laugh and warm smile will be forever etched in many minds. Such a tragic loss.
Miss Lola loved and cared for our boys so deeply at Stride. She was always so proud of their achievements, as if they were her own grandbabies! We felt her love through her encouragement for their progress and will always cherish the times they were blessed with being with her. Our thoughts are with the family at this unfortunate time. We love you, Miss Lola!
Lola was an amazing woman and will be missed by so many of us who were fortunate enough to have known her. Every time we met, she greeted me with a big hug and welcoming smile. Her laughter was infectious (and loud) and could lighten the mood in any room. She loved her friends and family, especially her beautiful children, so deeply and unconditionally and never missed an opportunity to say something very nice (and usually very funny) to anyone within ear’s shot. She made everyone around her smile, because her kindness was undeniable and I feel very blessed to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
Lola was a valued member of the Stride team for a little over a year, and during that time, she brought so much joy, dedication, and heart to the clients she served. She showed up every day ready to give her best and was always someone her clients could count on. As an RBT and coworker, Lola was delightful to work alongside and had a special way of making each client feel seen and supported.
One of the things that made Lola so special was the fun and creativity she brought into her sessions. She loved creating unique songs straight from the heart for her clients, turning everyday moments into something fun and memorable. Her energy and genuine love for the work brought smiles to everyone around her. Lola truly cared about the impact she was making in the lives of the children she worked with, and that passion was evident in everything she did.
Her presence at Stride made a lasting impact—not only on her clients and their families, but also on the coworkers who had the privilege of working alongside her. Lola will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, dedication, and the joy she brought to Stride every day.
I worked with Lola at Stride. She was always so loving to all the kiddos and made each day fun and engaging. She was always so happy and such a great friend. She will be deeply missed and my thoughts and prayers are with her family as they go through this difficult time.
Lola worked with my two grandsons at Stride Autism Center. They loved her so much and enjoyed their time with her. She was such an amazing person and she will be missed dearly!
I had the honor of working at the same school with Lola and readily agree that she loved kids, gave her all to her work as a paraeducator and was a dependable team player as she served. She was a woman of high integrity and a real credit to her family and friends and all the students who came in and out of her life during her LPS years. She was a loyal friend through thick and thin! Her kindness and her refusal to be involved in any work gossip made her a shining star as a co-worker. She will be missed.

Though distance can often be the reason that families drift apart, the news of the passing of cousin Lola still causes pain. I last spoke with Lola at her brother Charlie’s wake and was honestly impressed what a sharp mind she had. A genius. My condolences to her children, Jason and Jacob, Aunt Elpiniki, cousins Sophie and George and their families. Death leaves a heartache nobody can heal. Love leaves a memory nobody can steal.
Lola was a beautiful human being, both inside and out. She was a wonderful Mom and really enjoyed her quiet, simple life in Nebraska. John, you are correct in saying death leaves a heartache nobody can heal…
My dearest Lola, may God bless you, your children and your family. I am deeply overwhelmed by your passing. I met Lola 37 years ago at NYU. We were only 19 at the time. I can never forget the warmth and love in your heart you shared with everyone you came across. You had a gift of knowing how to make others smile, laugh and open up to you. No matter the time or day, you always knew how to brighten our spirits. People instantly gravitated to you. My soul is sad but in my heart, I know you are a direct angel of God. I will never forget you and all the great times we had. Rest in peace Lola. Se agapó pánta!
Σε αγαπώ πάντα!
