Diane Lynn (Novotny) Chrastil, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on August 15, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was 68 years old.
Diane was born on January 1, 1958, to Richard and Adeline (Prochaska) Novotny. She grew up on a farm near Clarkson, NE with her sister and six brothers. After graduating from high school, she moved to Lincoln to attend Joseph’s College of Beauty. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Bill. The two were married on May 26, 1981, and built a beautiful life and family, where they were blessed with two daughters, Mindy and Miranda.
Diane enjoyed spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren, Aviana and Barrett. She found joy in gardening, traveling, and hunting for seashells along the shore. She treasured the simple moments spent with the people she loved and created memories that her family will carry with them forever.
Diane was the heart of her family. She brought people together, offered comfort when it was needed, and loved fiercely. She was a woman of incredible strength, compassion, and positivity. She had a way of putting others before herself and giving love without ever asking for anything in return.
Though her absence leaves an unimaginable emptiness, her love, memories and strength will continue to live on through the people she loved most.
Diane is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughters, Mindy (Scott) and Miranda (Michael); her grandchildren, Aviana and Barrett; her bonus grandchildren, Peyton, Alexander, and Quinten; her bonus great-grandson, Xavier; her sister, Debbie; her brothers, Rick, Randy (Sherrie), Russell, Rod, and Ryan (Amanda); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roger, and her parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm at Wyuka Funeral Home (3600 O Street, Lincoln).
Funeral Service will be held at United Lutheran Church (5945 Fremont St. Lincoln, NE 68507) on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 11am. Following the service, family and friends are invited to join us for a luncheon at the church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery (84th and Adams).
Memorials to the family for later designation.
