WINIFRED ANN TURNER

Winifred Ann (Locher) Turner, age 88 of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Tabitha Maseman Unit in Lincoln.  Winifred was born June 7, 1926 in Oneida, Kansas, the daughter of Andrew and Nettie (Hess) Locher.  She graduated from Bern KS High School, class of 1944.

Winifred married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Turner, on December 4, 1946; they celebrated their 55th anniversary prior to his passing.  She was employed with Nash Finch Company for 20 years and enjoyed 18 years of service as Hostess at the Bethany Pantry.

She is survived by daughters, Glenda Walters of Topeka, KS, Gloria Turner-Fox (Frank) of  Tempe, AZ ; son, Fred (Brenda) of Lincoln;  six grandchildren;  seven great grandchildren; brother, Leonard (Christine) Locher of Paulding, OH; and sisters, Clarine (Richard) McConnell of Tucson, AZ, and Lois Slack of Escondido, CA.

Preceded by her parents;  husband;  sisters, Ruth Down and Lennis Locher ;  son in law Robert Walters; brother & sister in law, Gene (Betty) Turner; and brother in law Robert Turner.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Marks United Methodist Church , 8550 Pioneers Blvd;  Pastor John Lacey officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday, May 10, 2-4 p.m. at 1111 North 78th Street, home of Fred and Brenda Turner.  Memorials to St. Marks Church.

  8. To the family of Winnie. She was a very classy lady. I worked with her at the Bethany Pantry for 13 years and had many good times. She will be missed by all of you. My thoughts are with you all.
