Virgie L. Smith, 94, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on April 22, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones at The Waterford at Williamsburg.

Born on June 13, 1931, in Milligan, Nebraska, Virgie was the daughter of Emil and Tonie Havel. She grew up in Milligan and graduated from Milligan High School in 1948. On January 23, 1954, she married Bill Smith, and together they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.

Virgie was known for touching the lives of everyone around her with her sweet, generous, honest, and genuine spirit. She had a deep love for cooking and took great joy in making sure everyone was well fed; always with plenty of extra to take home. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events. She also enjoyed her weekly bowling leagues with close friends and faithfully followed the Huskers, the Saltdogs, and the Kansas City Royals.
To those who knew her, Virgie will be remembered for her spirited “spitfire” attitude, her love of music, and her familiar evening declaration: “The kitchen is closed—but there’s always ice cream!”

Virgie is survived by her daughter, Barb (Mike) Honerman of North Platte; daughter-in-law, Jane Smith of Lincoln; and son-in-law, Dr. Brad (Laura) Lockee of Pierce. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ryan (Jocelyn), Reed (Corinna), Kyle (Sara), Scott (Katie), Stacy (Tyler), Matt (Tanya), Brian, Amy (Collin), Brent, Aaron, Jake, and Katie; and her great-grandchildren: Aiden, Ethan, Luke, Leo, Addison, Jack, Wyatt, Benny, Leon, Vivian, Savannah, and Ryker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband, Bill; daughter, Sue Lockee; and son, Gene Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 7601 Vine Street, with a rosary preceding the Mass. Father Lyle Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” St, Lincoln.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Catholic Social Services or to the family for later designation.

Virgie’s family extends their gratitude to all her friends and long-time neighbors for their love and support over the years.

Denise (Hales) Mundorf passed away April 14, 2026, with family and friends at her side.

She was born December 20, 1949, in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of Betty Jane (Kingery) Hales and Harvey James Hales, who preceded her in death.

Denise worked as an LPN. In 1991 she helped found the volunteer music therapy program at St. Elizabeth where she played her folk harp for oncology patients. She also volunteered with Heartland Hospice and played for patients in other hospitals. “Music reaches a person in ways words can’t. You’re being welcomed into private moments in peoples’ lives. It’s a privilege.”

Denise loved flowers and had an expansive garden. She had a special fondness for her heirloom roses and iris.

Her family became active with the Children’s Zoo in 1965, and Denise continued this involvement through support for new exhibits and animals for the enjoyment of the larger community.

Denise is survived by her husband, Ed Mundorf; her sister, Cherie Hales; and niece, Katya Hales.

Condolences and remembrances can be sent to Wyuka Funeral Home and Cemetery.

We are deeply grateful to the staff at Pemberly Memory Care, Hospice of Nebraska and Lymphatic Rehab for the kind and respectful care they provided.

Memorials can be made to the Nebraska Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association HERE or the Lincoln Children’s Zoo HERE.

Michael (Mick) Ohnoutka, 70, of Lincoln, NE, passed away on April 11, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born April 16, 1955, to Dennis and Donna Ohnoutka

He grew up in Touhy, NE, and married Karen Cihal in 1976. Soon after, they relocated to Lincoln, NE, where they raised two sons. He worked for BNSF Railroad for more than 40 years. While Mick wasn’t one to seek the spotlight, his humor, easy-going nature, and quiet way of bringing things to life put him at the heart of memories with family and friends. During his time in Touhy, he created a golf event throughout the town called the Arnold Piippo Memorial Golf Tournament.

Mick was actively involved in the lives of his family, oftentimes working alongside his sons on house projects or attending his grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed horse racing and golf. For many years, Mick also enjoyed antiquing.

Mick is survived by his wife Karen; two sons Timothy (Andrea) and Eric (Katie); brother Dave Ohnoutka; sister Linda (Stanley) Berlowitz; brother-in-law Steve Spradling; grandchildren Olivia and Carter; grand-dogs Zoey and Belle; and many nieces and nephews among other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Diane Spradling.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family or donations made to the Hope Fund for Lymphoma and Leukemia Research with the University of Nebraska Foundation. HERE

Arthur Lapin, 85, passed away on March 29, 2026. He was born on December 29, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Joseph and Esther Lapin.

Bonnie Lapin, 80, passed away on July 23, 2025. She was born on September 1, 1944, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Irwin and Rosalind Dubinsky.

They are survived by their children, Jeffrey and Andrew; daughter‑in‑law, Crystal; grandchildren, Maia, Jordan, and Jacob; Bonnie’s sister, Joy Rodenberg, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of family and friends,

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and brother. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

Bonnie and Arthur embraced grandparenthood with full hearts. They delighted in every milestone, every story, every small triumph of their grandchildren. Even with Bonnie’s fear of flying, they traveled to be present for the moments that mattered. Their love showed up—steadily, joyfully, without hesitation.

Throughout their lives, they each wore many hats:

Bonnie: daughter; sister; wife; mother; grandmother; aunt; athlete in tennis, basketball, and volleyball; card player; t-ball umpire and coach; video‑poker enthusiast; and homemaker.

Arthur: son; brother; husband; father; grandfather; uncle; cousin; swimmer; tennis player; soccer coach; movie enthusiast; and jokester.

Together, they were a constant and grounding presence for their family. Their lessons were lived, not lectured, woven into everyday moments. Bonnie taught the courage of doing what is right, even when it is difficult or lonely. Arthur taught the power of being genuine and friendliness; many said he was among the kindest people they had ever known.

Bonnie often saw the cup as half empty, Arthur as half full. But together, they filled it – balancing one another, strengthening one another, creating a partnership that was both steady and spirited. They lived as a team, and so we honor them as one. On their 50th anniversary, they renewed their vows, a testament to the enduring love they built and shared.

Bonnie and Arthur were known for their warmth, generosity, humor, and unwavering love. Their presence shaped the lives around them, and their absence will be felt deeply. Yet the legacy they created – of family, devotion, and joy – will continue to shine in all who knew them.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Association HERE in honor of Arthur and Bonnie Lapin. Thank you for remembering them with your kindness.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 10:00am at Wyuka Cemetery, 3600 O St, Lincoln, NE 68510.

Kolby Ray Wolfe, 8 months old, passed away on March 26, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born July 16, 2025, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Serenity Cleary & Skyler Wolfe.

Kolby was the happiest baby. He was always smiling and laughing unless he was hungry or tired. Kolby thought people asking him to say mama and dada was the funniest thing ever. Kolby loved to watch dancing fruit by Hey Bear, and he also loved watching Bear in the Big Blue House with his dad. His smile would be so big every time he heard it come on. He loved playing with toys. He has monkey drums that light up, and a narwhal teether toy he loved. Kolby also loved stuffed animals, if you had a stuffed animal and he was around, it became his stuffed animal. I will always remember how he was learning to crawl, he loved getting on his hands and knees and swaying back and forth. He used to get so frustrated because he wasn’t quite able to move yet. He loved having screaming matches too. He would scream and wait for you to yell back before he would yell again.

Kolby is survived by his parents, Skyler and Serenity; his grandparents, Erin & Shane Wolfe and Kelly & Lynne Chandler; his uncles, Jamison & Set; his aunts, Cali & Cadie; and numerous other family members and friends.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Memorials may be donated to Kolby’s family HERE

Paul Richardson, age 89, was born on Monday, August 3,1936, in Lincoln, Nebraska and died on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Bellevue, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Alice Holwuttle; parents, Earl and Irma Richardson; sister, Joyce Bargar; half-brother, Wesley “Tooker” Husband; his favorite aunt, Betty Root; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by first cousins, John Holbrook, Shirley O’Meara, Pat and Ed Short, Debbie O’Malley, Diana and Way Huey, and Don Holbrook. He is also survived by many second and third cousins, and his very good friend, Ron Jackson.

Paul was born and died in Nebraska. He was a lifelong Husker fan.

It’s hard to put in words Paul’s life in a few sentences.

He could be stubborn as heck and was always certain that he was right.

But Paul had another side to him as well. He had a group of friends from his high school days that he was loyal to to the end, and only one of them continues to live: Ron Jackson. A lot of his friends referred to Paul as “Brownie”.

And even though sometimes he didn’t show it, he deeply loved his family, and at times, was very caring.

He was extremely grateful to his cousin, John, who helped Paul in so many ways.

Even though Paul had many physical obstacles and pain in his last few years, he left this earth in a painless and peaceful manner.

May God rest his soul.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Wyuka Funeral Home 3600 O St. Lincoln, Nebraska.

Please donate any memorials to Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home 12505 Harrison Tull Rd. Bellevue, NE 68123 in remembrance of Paul Richardson.
