Donald (Diego) Hensler, 69, died Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Don was born June 18, 1956, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Donald and Evelyn (Morin) Hensler.
Don worked as a welder for the Boilermakers Local 83, out of Kansas City, Missouri. He took great pride in being a Boilermaker, both his father and his brother Roger were Boilermakers as well.
Don was an avid hunter and fisherman. His time in nature was an escape from life’s distractions. He leaves behind a legacy of love for the outdoors that he shared with everyone. While he will be deeply missed by family and friends, we find comfort knowing that he’s now reunited with his sister Connie. Master of the river; he is casting lines and tracking game in the ultimate hunting grounds.
Don is survived by his loving wife Sue, who was his partner in countless adventures; son, Adam (Alicia) Kreatz; two granddaughters, Simone and Morgan; sister, Sharol (Doug) Murrell; brother, Roger (Patti) Hensler and family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Christ Lincoln, 4325 Sumner Street, Lincoln. We would be honored if you would join us for a luncheon at the North Ministry following the funeral service. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Lincoln. Memorials to the family for further designation.
Gone Fishin’
I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.
Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don’t worry, or feel sad for me,
I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea.
We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won’t be long you will see,
Till we’re together you and me.
To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I’m missin’
Just tell ’em I’ve gone fishin’.

So my thoughts and prayers are with you! I’m so sorry for your loss
Oh Sue, I am so so sorry to hear about Don. I know how heavy this must be on your heart!! Please know I am thinking of you and your family. Sending love ~ Donna.
You better man the goose blind while you’re on your journey. I will bring you feathers so your spirit will take you skyward. I will join you someday
And we will get our limit every time.
I’ll miss you bro!
I am a Boilermaker also, every time I saw Don we would talk about work and he would catch me up on Roger and his adventures. RIP Brother.
