August 14, 1950 – March 5, 2026
George Stuart Mills Jr. didn’t much care for sitting still. He passed away of natural causes on March 5, 2026, in the Raymond home he kept running with a steady supply of bolts, wires, and sheer determination.
Born in 1950, George was a man of perpetual motion. While his career took him into Lincoln as a “jack-of-all-trades” service technician and diesel mechanic for Linweld, his heart and his weekends remained on the family land. He spent years laboring alongside his father, eventually buying and improving the farm to ensure his parents had a place for retirement. Whether it was a diesel engine or a failing fence line, if it had bolts or wires, George was the expert who could make it run again.
He was a storyteller with a quick joke and a nickname for everyone—whether you knew your
nickname or not. While he was a master on the water and the snow as an expert skier, he was perhaps most at home with a cold beer and a captive audience. George was loyal and dutiful to his work and his family to a fault, even if his unapologetically direct nature meant you didn’t always know exactly where you stood with him until the dust settled.
Family and Legacy.
George is survived by his wife, Margaret Mills, and his three sons: Chris, Steve, and Brad. His stories (and his nicknames) live on through his grandchildren: Allison, Geronimo, Evan, Ava, and Liam. He is also survived by his mother, Hallie Mills, and his brothers, Harvey, Steve, and Don. He was preceded in death by his father, George Stuart Mills Sr., and his sister, Dorothy Rippe.
