It was an honor to know you and call you my friend. To say that you had a life long impact on how I look at the world and how I treat others would be an understatement. You met me when I thought I knew everything and actually knew very little. You were kind, thoughtful and treated every person you were speaking with like they were the only one in the room. It has now been 14 years since you left this earth and I found myself thinking of you today as I was helping someone at my job. Your encouragement and positivity were unequaled in my life. Carol was so kind when you passed and allowed me to choose some of your art that I could keep and display to remind me that however brief our friendship was, it changed my life. And it changed me. I am a better man, a kinder man and a wiser man for our conversations about life, theology and philosophy. You were the only man I knew that would work out and read a Smithsonian magazine at the same time. I was blessed to know you. You are missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. May “the God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) comfort and soothe your heart. His promises, found in the Holy Scriptures, can offer much hope. It assures us at John 5:28,29 that our loved ones will be remembered and brought back to life in the resurrection. Please allow God’s Word to strengthen you and help you to endure this most difficult time.

Carol, So sorry to hear that Gerry lost his fight with cancer. We visited with your Mom,Dad and Jeanne recently here in Lincoln and they told us he was very ill. You will be in our prayers as you and your family go through this very difficult time.

I met Gerry when I started 7th grade at Whittier Jr. High. He was always a kind and gentle soul even back then. when I was out of school I met up with Gerry again through his sister Nancy and at that time met his soon to be wife. Even after that many years I could tell he had not really changed he was still always smiling and again so kind and gentle. He helped me get through a lot hard times when we were in school. I feel Blessed to have known him as well as being able to meet the rest of his family. He will be missed by all, I just trust we will meet again someday.

I too, will always hold a special place in my heart for Gerry Lawson. He and I, were both LEX students, and were hired with the Military Dept. full time when we graduated. Enjoyed working with Gerry, loved his zest for life and positive attitude.

Carol, my sympathy to you, as I know he waited a long time, before he decided to settle down, and know your love for each other is strong, and you both are good people. May you have peace, and be blessed, in the future. I know Gerry will be missed by his family and friends.

I got to know Gerry very late in his career. He was a fun person to talk with. He will be missed. May God Bless you and your spirit rise up to meet the Lord.

I had the honor to work with Gerry for well over 20 years. We collaborated many times on design of the Prairie Soldier and many other events during our many years at the Military Department. Gerry was a friend like no other. Whether talking weather or politics he was always good for a lively discussion. He will be missed hear on earth but welcome at the Lord’s side. God bless and keep you until we meet again my friend!

I have known Gerry for 18 years and it was a wonderful experience that I will cherish for a lifetime. Every time I had the opportunity to stop and see Gerry I did, because his enthusiasm for live was refreshing. I will truly miss our talks and working with another perfectionist who loved what he did. Heaven is a greater place because of your presence. God Bless and I will miss you!

My thoughts and prayers go out to Carol and the rest of Gerry’s family and friends, he will be missed. There were many days that I would wonder down to his desk to ask a question on a work topic only to get into a conversation on football, particularly Notre Dame football. For all their faults, and I was sure to point them out, he loved the Irish and would keep his hopes up as they moved from one coach to another. As it has been pointed out, he was a perfectionist. Whether he was working on a flyer for the General, or a invitation to the pre-marathon breakfast, he had to have it just right.
As I said, he will be missed.

Gerry was awesome. The years working with him were great and we always had a lot of fun. I especially remember when the print shop/graphic arts was in the TAG bldg and we would joke back and forth every day. It was great to always be able to talk to Gerry, Bob, AI and Todd. May God Bless you all.
