James A. Gallant

James A. Gallant, age 64, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

James was born on October 1, 1961, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to John Gallant and Beverly Jabs (Corum). He was a kind and gentle soul who made sure everyone felt included. James loved to joke with people and had a warm sense of humor. Though he looked big and intimidating, those who knew him best knew he was truly a soft-hearted giant.

When his boys were younger, James was very active in the Boy Scouts, spending many years as a Scoutmaster and Den Leader. He took great pride in mentoring and guiding young people, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.

James was a devoted family man who loved deeply and wholeheartedly. He had a remarkable ability to listen and offer thoughtful advice, always making others feel heard and supported. Rarely without a piece of rope in his pocket, James enjoyed tying different knots to keep his hands busy—one of the many small quirks his family will fondly remember.

James is survived by his loving wife, Lori Gallant; son Justin (Kasey) Gallant of Lincoln; stepchildren Amanda Evers of Lincoln, Brian (Kari) Morgan of Lincoln, Kirstin (Brandon) Vanderlinden of Lincoln, and Gabbie Dutton of Omaha; brother John Gallant Jr. of Wyoming; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Gallant Sr. and Beverly Gallant; his son, Jason Gallant; his sister, Jeanie Lewis; and his first wife, Terri Gallant.

Services will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow immediately after the service.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

  3. We lived across the street from Jim and Terri. They became like second parents to my son and very good friends to me. We lost touch after Teri passed but still kept tabs on Facebook. Was so happy Jim found love again. Justin my heart goes out to you and your family. Keeping you all in my prayers.
