Obituary

Amy Larsen

Amy Beth Larsen was born on October 5, 1973, to James D. and Sandra L (Weiler) Larsen at St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was the first granddaughter on both sides of the family. Amy had a headful of curly brown hair and bright blue eyes. Grandma Larsen, Aunt Pam, and cousins Shawn and Troy were her first visitors shortly after her birth. Aunt Pam said that Grandma Larsen kept saying ‘Oh, I am so excited’! By the time Amy was three weeks old she had a total of forty-two dresses, ranging in sizes from birth to size two. Most of the dresses were pink with ruffles, lace, and satin. Pink was destined to be Amy’s ‘signature color’.

Amy was an adventurous baby. She was not content to lay on a blanket on the floor and play with toys. She would roll and scoot herself around until she managed to get under a coffee or end table, then she would holler until we pulled her out. Amy was a climber and would climb on chairs, tables and counters by the time she was nine months old. After Amy learned to walk, we didn’t dare let her out of our sight. I put bells on her shoes so I would know where she was. Amy was very inquisitive and asked questions constantly. She was a morning person and would chatter away at the breakfast table until her little brother Ryan would look at her and tell her to ‘be quiet’. Amy was outgoing and loved visiting with everyone in our neighborhood. She would ride her tricycle up and down the sidewalk and would stop and visit with neighbors in their yard. Amy enjoyed going out to the farm to visit Grandma and Grandpa Larsen and helping with ‘chores’.

Amy enjoyed playing volleyball and the clarinet in middle school at St. Patrick’s. As a teenager Amy enjoyed spending time with her friends and doing school activities.

Shortly after Amy graduated from high school, she made the decision to attend nursing school at Southeast Community College. Amy graduated from nursing school as an LPN in 1995 and begin working at Tabitha. She later worked at Madonna and the Community Blood Bank.

Amy welcomed three daughters Alexis, Mackenzie, and Alannah. She was enormously proud of her girls. Amy loved to garden from a very young age and always had a bouquet of dandelions in a small cup of water. She loved planting gardens and flowers and landscaping her small yard. Amy enjoyed walking trails in the woods and fields.

Amy had difficulties in life and at times would stumble and fall down. But when she fell down, she always got back up. She was determined to be the best she could be. Amy went to work for Kawasaki in June of 2020, and she loved her job there. Her supervisor Jennifer said before she knew Amy, she would see her in the plant in her bright pink Kawasaki t-shirt waving to people and telling them ‘Hi’ and she wondered who is this person? Eventually Jen became Amy’s supervisor. Amy was a parts runner in the beginning, but she was soon tasked with setting up new off-site warehouses, cleaning, and organizing current off-site warehouses, unloading semis, and pulling parts to send to the manufacturing lines in the plant. She could handle a forklift with the best of them! Amy took extra classes to advance her employment and was promoted to team lead at Kawasaki.

Amy entered into rest on August 24, 2026, with her family surrounding her. We are overwhelmed with grief and sadness, but we know God has healed her and she is now watching over us.

Amy was preceded in death by her father, James Larsen, grandson, Scott Wesley Buol, grandparents, Vernon & Lillie Larsen, Frederick & Frances Weiler, step grandparents, Cecil & Eva Garcia West, aunts, Diane Bjorke & Diane Weiler, great grandparents, great aunts & uncles, cousins, and friends who have gone before her.
