Beverly Ann Allen

Beverly Ann Allen, 94, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away peacefully, May 11, 2022. She was born December 17, 1927 in Fairbury, NE to Reuben and Dorothy (McKay) Owens.

Beverly graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944 and went on to earn a degree in Education from the University of NE. She taught in Iowa, where she met Hubert Allen and they were married in 1949. She then taught in Illinois and went back to school to earn her MA in Education and taught Kindergarten, First and Second Grades in the Lincoln Public Schools for 36 years.  After retiring, Beverly moved to Colorado Springs, CO, to be near her daughter Becky and family. She loved playing Bridge and played at the Bridge Center, where she met Frank Allen. They became good friends and travelled the world together.  Beverly especially loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always loving and giving to all of them

She is survived by her daughter Becky (Rick) of Woodland Park, CO, son Stephen (Iryna) of LaVista, Ne; grandchildren Raegan Smyth, Philip Allen, Trent (Emily) Allen and Lindsay (Daniel) Bertrand and several great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter Kathy Campbell, son James Allen, grandson Alex Allen, sister Phyllis Horch, brothers Bruce, Spencer and James Owens and good friend Frank Allen.

The family plans a private ceremony at Wyuka cemetery in Lincoln. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Care and Share of Southern Colorado.

    • It was my pleasure to work with Beverly as I started my LPS career. She was always supportive. We had many opportunities to collaboratively impact the lives of many students. I am grateful for the experience. A live well lived.

    I’ll never forget her. Sorry for your loss Steve. She made our childhood better. May she rest in peace!
