Dennis E. Buettow

Dennis E. Buettow age 84 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in Lincoln.  He was born on July 15, 1926 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Louis and Clara (Dietloff) Buettow.  During high school Dennis was a member of  the Norfolk High School State Champion football team.  Dennis served in the US Army during World War II from November 20, 1944 to July 31, 1946.  He worked as a plumber for most of his career.  He helped with the plumbing during the construction of some of the buildings on the campus of the University of Nebraska.  Dennis retired in 1992 and then worked for 12 years at Securitas Security Services, stationed at Farmers Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of the United Lutheran Church, where he was a past church board member, the American Legion, VFW, Elks, Moose Lodge and the Local Plumbers Union.  Dennis enjoyed stopping daily at his favorite establishment, El Matador Lounge.

Dennis is survived by his nephew, Steven Buettow of Aspen, Colorado, his great-niece, Annie Buettow of Aspen, Colorado, many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beulah, and a stepson, Milo.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at Evangelical United Lutheran Church, 5945 Fremont Street, Lincoln.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Evangelical United Lutheran Church, 5945 Fremont Street, Lincoln with Pastor Myron Meyer officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

  1. Denny was a great man, I don’t know anyone who had more friends than him. He will be missed, especially at The Mat.
