Doris May Girdner

Doris May Girdner, age 79 of Lincoln, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in Waverly.  Doris was born December 6, 1932 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Marion and Thelma (Jones) Ridpath.  She was married to Gerald Girdner on November 25, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri.  Doris was a member of Plains Baptist Church where she was a long time Sunday School Teacher and loved being in the choir.

Survivors include Daughters and Sons-in-law: Jearlyn and Dale Schumacher of Waverly; Nancy and Darryl Johnson of Elmwood; Juanita and Mark Beam of Holdrege.  Sons and Daughters-in-law: Gerald Michael and Susan Girdner of Lincoln; Jeffery and Kim Girdner of Lincoln.  Brother: John Ridpath, Sister: Mary Ridpath both of St. Joseph, Missouri.  Sister-in-law: Dottie Preston of Lincoln.  14 Grandchildren, 14 Great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Gerald, her parents; Sister: Alice Leach and Brother: Charles Ridpath.

Services will be held Friday, March 30, 2012 at Plains Baptist Church, 29th  and Randolph St. at 2:00 P.M.  Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Wyuka Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  and Friday, March 30th from 9:00 A.M. until Noon.

Memorials may be left for Plains Baptist Church.

  1. I had the privlege of knowing Doris as friend for many years. Doris was a committed Christian and faithful School teacher. She spread cheer to everyone around her. She is presently enjoying the fellowship of many friends who have preceded her in death. She will be missed by those who remain behind. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family.

    Sorry to hear of your Moms passing. I just looked at the web site to check in on obits and saw hers.

  3. I was best friends thru all my school years with her son Jerry. Mrs. Girdner always made me feel like one of her own kids when I visited at their home. She was a woman with a beautiful, loving heart. I know she is missed by everyone who met/knew her.
