Elinor L. Canfield

Elinor L. Canfield, 83 of Chandler, AZ, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 in Gilbert, AZ. She was a former resident of Lincoln and Malcolm. She worked as an accountant for the State of Nebraska Department of Public Institutions before retiring and moving to Arizona. She is survived by her son, Donald Canfield (Mary) and daughter, Jeanne Wacker (Kurt) and grandchildren, Kayla Canfield and Kyle and Jacob Wacker, all of Chandler, AZ. Elinor was preceded in death by her husband John Canfield and son James Canfield.

A funeral mass was held on Wednesday, June 22nd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chandler. She will be laid to rest on Friday, June 24th at Wyuka Cemetery, 3600 ‘O’ St., Lincoln, NE, with the graveside service beginning at 11:00 a.m.


  1. Sorry to hear of your mother’s death. I wanted to send her a sympathy card when your brother died but didn’t have an address.

    I enjoyed your mother’s friendship when we both worked at DPI. She was the one who encouraged a group of us to walk in the tunnels during the noon hour. She set the pace of our almost daily trips. She was a great person to have as a friend.

    I remember her talking about your group lunchtime walks. She stayed healthy and active for a number of years here in AZ before suffering a stroke in 2002 which seemed to be the onset of her dementia. Still, she always wanted to be independent and not rely on me or anyone else for her needs. We were blessed to have her living right behind us for the last 5 years. Thank you for your condolences.
