Elnore Rose Shear

Shear, Elnore Obit photoElnore R. Shear, 84, of Lincoln, died May 27, 2014.  Born June 4, 1929 in Burlington, Colorado to Howard and Leta Burns of Osceola and Stromsborg, NE.

Memorial Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln, NE on Friday, May 30, at 11:00 a.m.  Pastor Jim Keyser will be officiating.  Burial to follow at a later date.

Elnore graduated from Lincoln High in 1947 and married Bruce T. Shear that same year; together they raised seven children.  She has been an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years- as a Sunday School Teacher and also instrumental in starting the Trinity Infant & Childcare Centers where she was Director for 15 years.  She attained her Bachelor of Arts from UNL in 1986.  Elnore was a Girl Scout Troop Leader & Organizer; and also active in the Great Plains Doll Club, TOPS Club where she was State Queen, and the Capital City Carver’s Club.  Her real passion was her family and grandchildren.  She loved her flowers and gardening.

Elnore is survived by her husband Bruce; sons, Bruce Jr. and Howard Shear; daughters, Rosanne Thomas, Susan Gildersleeve, Sonya (Bryan) Richardson, SuLyn (Jeff) Medvin, and Henrietta (Steve) Haack; brothers, Gene and Donald Burns; sister, Joyce Thimgan; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ileen Ricky and Betty Taylor; and brother Carroll Burns.

  2. I’m sorry for the loss of Elnore R. Shear, sometimes words can’t even begin to take away the hurt, pain and void but let it be a loyal heart sure with prayers and many Psalms in mourning and in joy let His will be done in Heaven and on Earth. Matthew6:9,10; Psalms 37:11; 1 Corinthians 15:55
