Gerald (Jerry) Givens

Gerald (Jerry) W. Givens- of Lincoln passed away January 3, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 28, 1949, Battle Creek, MI, then gifted to Donald and Juanita (Grover) Givens. His family moved to Tucson, AZ where he attended Elem/Jr/Hi school and was involved with the Boy Scouts. The family moved to Ithaca, NE and Jerry graduated Wahoo HS, class of 1967.  He was drafted into the Army in 1969.  Jerry served in Vietnam and returned to the United States to Fort Riley, KS.  He was honorably discharged from the Service in 1971 as Sgt E5.

Following the Service, Jerry earned a degree as an Autobody Technician from Universal Trade School of Omaha, NE.  Jerry worked in Lincoln as an Autobody Repairman for 37 years.  He married Kathleen (Bouc) on April 28, 1973, at St. Vitus Church in Touhy, NE.  They were blessed with 4 sons.  Jerry enjoyed time with his sons and their friends working on cars in his garage.

Jerry enjoyed listening to 50’s and 60’s music, metal detecting and more recent years, visits from his grandchildren.  Jerry was not an official member of the “Kingsmen Car Club”, but was always invited to their events, and won many awards for his workmanship at car shows.

Jerry is survived by his wife Kathy and sons:  Craig (Mindi), Denton, NE; Mark (Amy); Ryan (Amy), Lincoln, NE; and Travis (Laura), Bellevue, NE. Grandchildren: Audree, Collin, Brayden, Sadie, Lillian Givens, Allison, and Kimberly Roque; Brothers: Dan (Pam) and Ron; Sister: Donita (Doug) Worley; many nieces. Nephews. grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Proceeded in death by his parents, brother John, nephew Nathan Worley, niece Holly Givens.

Services Friday, January 14, 2022, at North American Martyrs Catholic Church, Lincoln, NE. Rosary at 10:00 am; Mass at 10:30 am.  Meal to follow in the church hall. Procession at 2:00 p.m. for a 2:30 p.m. interment with Military Honors at Fairview Cemetery at 84th & Adams St., Lincoln, NE. The service will be livestreamed at namartyrs.org/funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for further designation.

  2. Kathy and family; Bob and I are sadden to read about Jerry´s passing. We recall fun times on D Street in Lincoln and Jerry having the “cool cars.” May memories help you during this difficult time. Adele and Bob Gammel – Strasburg, CO
