Glenva K. Stoddard

Glenva K. Stoddard, 84, of Lincoln, NE, passed away on November 14, 2023, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She was born on April 22, 1939, in Crescent, IA, to Fred and Thelma (Dahlof) Stock. After high school, she attended York College where daily chapel was required. The assigned alphabetical seating there put her right next to Ron Stoddard, whom she then married on September 6, 1959.

Together they moved to Lincoln where she finished her elementary education degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University.

They made their home on an acreage where they raised their three children: Jody, Dean and Gail. That’s where you would find her spending most of her time gardening and feeding the birds.

Glenva gave generously of her time volunteering to read with kids at school, knitting hats for hospital newborns and was an active member of church, teaching Sunday School and supporting the youth camp. She was a sharp card player and an avid sports fan, especially Husker sports.

Those left to celebrate her life are children, Jody (Alan) Eoff, Dean (Libby) Stoddard and Gail (Jeff) Wightman; grandchildren Andrew (Janine) and Tyler (Morgan) Brunsting, Joel (Bri), Tierney and Cort Gensler, Kate and Celia Wightman, Elise and Bryce Stoddard; great grandchildren Layton Gensler, Luke and Quinn Brunsting, and Alex Brunsting; sister Gayle (Tom) Krause; brother-in-law Denis (Nancy) Stoddard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Stoddard.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Fairview Cemetery, 84th and Adams Street, Lincoln. Visitationw will be held from, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. November 17, 2023, at Wyuka Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorials may be directed to BackPack4Kids.

  3. I just found out that Glenva went to her heavenly home. She was my neighbor from 1993-2001. She was the kindest lady. I used to call her my “Lincoln Mom”. I’m so sorry I’m missed her service. My sympathies to her family & friends.
