Gloria Grace Larson

Gloria (Anderson) Larson, 81, died July 18, 2021 at Bryan East Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska after a long battle with numerous complications following spinal surgery.

Gloria was born in Bemidji, Minnesota to Rev. Kenneth and Opal (Kastella) Anderson. She graduated from Ortonville High School, MN, and attended Huron College, SD, University of Minnesota and graduated from Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, Kansas in 1963. She taught several years at elementary schools in Clay Center and Manhattan, Kansas.

Gloria married Larry Larson August 18, 1963 at Zion Lutheran Church, Everest, Kansas. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bryant Anderson. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Dr. Larry Larson, her two sons Lance (Linda) and Todd (Melissa), five grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren all of Lincoln, NE, three sisters Miriam (Bob) Hendrix, Corrine (John) Jurisch, and Naomi Hubbard and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Gloria was a stay-at-home mom after her first son was born and her husband finished his Doctoral Degree. Later in life she again stayed at home to assist in taking care of her five grandchildren while their parents were at work.

Gloria was very active in the church including being a Member of the NE Lutheran Family & Social Service Board and Auxiliary Board, Church Council, Women of the ELCA, teaching Sunday School & Vacation Bible School, quilting, assisting with the Back Pack program, delivering meals-on-wheels, etc. She served on the Election Board and assisted with reading & math skills at Meadowlane Elementary School.

She enjoyed family activities, including camping, traveling & sightseeing, making special birthday cakes and was famous for her delicious rhubarb pies.

A celebration of Gloria’s life will at 11:00 AM on Thursday August 5, 2021 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 1015 Lancaster Lane, Lincoln, NE 68505, Rev. Kimberlee Osborn officiating. Cremation, no visitation. Arrangements by Wyuka Funeral Home, Lincoln, NE. Interment at Fairview Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Lincoln, or Tabitha Health Services, Lincoln, or Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska.

  4. So sorry for your loss. Mr Larson , Lance and Todd. I remember spending time at your house when Lance and I were in junior high. Mrs Larson was always so quiet and kind.
