James E. Kunzman

James E. Kunzman age 73 of Syracuse, Nebraska passed away at home with his wife and daughters at his side after a hard fought battle against cancer.  He was born July 19, 1948 in Alliance, Nebraska to Eugene P. and Margie P. (Zabka) Kunzman.  Jim and Barb (Crook) were married March 6, 1976 in Otoe, Nebraska.  They were blessed with two beautiful daughters and three grandchildren.  Jim retired in 2008 after working for Judd Brothers Construction, Nebraska Book Company, and Kawasaki.  He loved music and enjoyed going to different venues to hear his favorite bands.  Other hobbies included WWII model airplanes, trains, NASCAR, baseball, WWII history, fishing and mostly spending time with his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters and sons-in-law Jamie and Jim Sauser of Crete, Jessica and Chad Wessel of Lincoln.  Granddaughters Abbigail, Izzabel and Samantha Wessel.  Mother Margie P. Kunzman of Carmel, Indiana, Sister and brother-in-law Beverly Leddy-Zaring and Roger Zaring of Carmel, Indiana.  He was preceded in death by his father Eugene, mother-in-law and father-in-law Doris and Bertie Crook and his life long friend Steve Lamborn.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Wyuka Funeral Home.  The service will be livestreamed, click HERE.

Inurnment will take place at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Lincoln.

Memorials to the family for a later designation.

  1. So sorry for your loss….he knew how much he was loved by you all. He is not suffering through that terrible disease of cancer any longer. Love you guys!

  3. One of my very good friend at Northeast. A few years after graduation I got married and kind of lost track of Jim. Didn’t see him until Steve Lamborn’s funeral. Lost track again and have tried in the past to get back in touch, but never was able to figure out where he was. We had some great times and got into trouble together :). Very sorry to hear of his passing.
