Judy J. Buss

Judy J. Buss age 73 of Lincoln passed away January 14, 2022. She was born January 25, 1948, in North Platte, Nebraska to Joseph W. and June R. (Davidson) Brott.

Judy is survived by her husband Jerald Buss, married August 18, 1968, daughters April (Justin) Douglas and Crystal
Ridder, all of Lincoln; grandchildren, Alexandra, Jacquelyn, Joseph, Jaelee, Jack, and Jason; sisters Jody Brott of Lincoln and Julie (Mark) Walters of Waterloo, Iowa; mother-in-law, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Judy was
preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law.

Judy was the executive director of the American Quilt Study Group for 23 years. She was an Adjunct Professor and earned her PhD from the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on January 20, at Second Baptist Church, 525 N. 58th Street, Lincoln. Visitation January 19 Noon-7:00 P.M. with family present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 O Street, Lincoln. Interment Wyuka Cemetery.

Family requests memorials in lieu of flowers to the Dr. Judy Brott Buss endowment at the American Quilt Study Group.

  2. Judy was a wonderful, sweet, quiet person whom I was privileged to know in the past two years in our Faith and Cancer group at Westminster Presbyterian Church. We will miss her.

  6. I met Judy when she was a student at UNL and worked with me in the early years of developing the vision for the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery. Judy’s soft spoken manner and commitment to a diverse community made an impact on the future direction of gallery. My condolences to her family.
