Keith DuPont

Keith Douglas DuPont, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Journey House, surrounded by the love of his family.

Keith was born on October 11, 1952, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. As a young boy, his family relocated to Aberdeen, South Dakota, before ultimately settling in Lincoln, Nebraska. Keith grew up in Lincoln, where he attended and proudly graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1971. Following graduation, he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) for a year before relocating to Escondido, California for six years. Upon moving back to Nebraska, Keith met his soon to be wife, Karla, and started his career as a cars salesperson.

Keith was a man of many passions. He was an avid sports fan, fiercely cheering on the Nebraska Huskers and the Green Bay Packers. He had a lifelong fascination with cars, dragons, the magic of the 4th of July, and the raw beauty of watching storms roll in. Keith also shared a deep love for animals, especially cats and dogs. In his passing, his family finds comfort in the sight of Blue Jays—which will always serve as a special reminder of him—as well as vibrant cardinals.

Keith’s greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his wife, Karla DuPont; his daughter, Bree (Scott) Sedlak, who will always hold the cherished title of Keith’s “little pumpkin”; and his beloved grand pets, especially Layla, who held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his father, John DuPont; his siblings, Doreen Lueders, Kay (Terry) Lyman, Jill (Francis) Allen, and Johnny DuPont; his brothers-in-law, Dennis (Gail) Schmidt and Darrell (Loree) Schmidt; sister-in-law Suzie DuPont; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Keith was reunited in eternity with those who preceded him in death: his mother, June Elsie (Anderson) DuPont (2019); his brothers, Jay Allen DuPont (1966) and Alan Chester DuPont (2020); his sister-in-law, Tracy DuPont (2007); his grandparents, Chester and Hazel DuPont, and Walter and Elsie Anderson; and his parents-in-law, Vernon and Velda Schmidt.

Services to honor and celebrate Keith will be held on June 1, 2026, at 10:00 A.M, at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln, Nebraska.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for further designation.

  5. I’m gonna miss you, Keith. We did a lot of things together. I sort of took over for Jay. A lot of partying in Thomas Brook & barhopping in Lincoln. Traveling places, did a lot of cool things, man. I’m gonna miss you and I love you and I know you’re going to heaven.
