Lewis Seals Coleman

March 16, 1929 – June 25, 2026

Lewis Seals Coleman, 97, passed away in the early morning hours on June 25, 2026. He was not afraid and he was ready to go, leaving this world as quiet and peaceful as he had lived.

Lewis was born March 16, 1929, in Ainsworth, Nebraska. He proudly served on the front lines during the Korean war before beginning a 30 career with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.

On August 16, 1953, he married the love of his life, Geraldine Elisabeth Coleman. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and simple joys. After retiring from BNSF railroad, they moved to Valentine, Nebraska, where Lewis enjoyed the years, they shared together. It was there that he earned his pilot’s license at the age of 69, proving that it is never too late to chase a dream. He also found great happiness tending the garden alongside Geri and friends, working with his hands through carpentry projects, reading, singing, and enjoying a good meal with family and friends. Above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lewis is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 73 years, Geraldine Elisabeth Coleman; his son, Bruce A Coleman; his grandchildren, Brad Coleman, Bren Hansen, and AJ Coleman; and his great-grandchildren, Skylar Coleman, Christian Simpson, and Hoyt Hansen.

He was a quiet man with an extraordinary memory. When he spoke, his words carried meaning and the stories were in full color with detail. His gentle strength, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always.

In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. He never liked to be fussed over. Though he is no longer with us, the love and memories he created will forever be in our hearts.

Correspondence can be sent to Geraldine Coleman.
