Loene Annette Hollis

Loene Annette Hollis, 49, formerly of Kearney, passed away Thursday March 7, 2019 nearly 4 years after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Born October 7, 1969 to Don and Jeanette (Comfort) Hollis. A kind and loving soul, Loene dedicated her life to others. Graduating from MidAmerica University with a BA in Psychology and then UNK with a Master’s in Community Counseling, she spent the next decade providing support and counsel to those in need, especially at-risk youth. In 2010 she co-founded Monarch Counseling and soon became the sole owner. Monarch Counseling provided Loene the opportunity to continue her own counseling work while also creating an environment for other mental health professionals to effectively help those in the community. Her work ethic and can-do attitude allowed her to stay involved at Monarch Counseling until 2018. She is survived by her parents, daughter, Aidan Hollis, sister, Jeanna (Hollis) Hoffman, brother, Brent Hollis, countless friends and former clients. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 13 at 10 a.m. at Wyuka Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to CenterPointe, an organization that provides mental health and addiction counseling to community members in need.

  14. Monarch Butterfly: “A Sign Of Rebirth And Transformation. Seeing this beautiful creator is a sign that you need a change. You have to make the right changes in your life to be successful.” Loene understood this aspect of our spiritual being and was always open to changes for herself as well as her clients and friends. I never saw or heard her turn anyone away when they were in crisis or needed support. She was a great mentor and educator and valuable to our profession in our community. She was strong and never afraid to step up and fight for the rights of others. She had attained her dream of having a private practice and dreamed of more and never stopped climbing. Unconditionally, she was our loving friend and I will sorely miss her. Loene, you fought a tough battle and are now victorious! Thoughts and Prayers for you and your family.
