Margie was born November 24, 1929, at rural Hubbard, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Louis N. Georgesen and Bernice (Mast) Georgesen. She moved with her family to Homer at the age of 13 months. She graduated from Homer High School in 1947, and married Warren K. Jensen on February 8, 1948. They lived on a farm near Homer until 2004 when they moved to Lincoln.

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Homer, Nebraska, where during her lifetime she taught Sunday School, was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and served as an officer several times. She also served on the church council.

At one time she was a Cub Scout Den Mother and served on the Local Boy Scout Board in Homer. For many years she was a member of an Extension Club, a Hobby Club and a Garden Club. She and her husband belonged to Peersonian Dance Club, were active in the Homer Alumni Association, and were members of the Dakota County Historical Society.

For several years she was employed during the holidays at Younkers in Sioux City. She worked at the Rockwell Market in Homer and later worked for 12 years at the K and P Market. In 1976, she started working as a Teacher’s Aide in the Homer School System and continued working there until her retirement in May of 1998.

Her other hobbies included gardening, flower arranging, baking, reading, putting puzzles together, coloring, and traveling. She loved spending time with her family – especially her 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Warren.

She is survived by her three children: Wayne (Rita), of Juneau, Alaska, JoAnn (Gordon), of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Janelle (Lonnie), of Lincoln, Nebraska.

  1. We are so sorry for your loss. We bought their acreage 17 years ago and still love living there. We also enjoyed the letters Margie would send us at Christmas. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
