Michelle B. Tichota

Michelle Bourgeois Tichota, age 43, of Omaha passed away February 3, 2021. She was born August 13, 1977 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Thomas and Judy (Talazac) Bourgeois. Michelle was a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, graduating from Woodlawn High School (1996) and Southeastern Louisiana University with a degree in international business (2006).

Our sweet Michelle, “Mich”, had a love for both playing and coaching volleyball, reading, jewelry making, cooking, and above all else spending time with family.

Survivors include husband Robert Tichota and feline daughter Callie. Mother Judy Bourgeois; mother-in-law and father-in-law Katherine and Randolph Tichota. Sister and brother-in-law Becky and Gerald Calegan. Brother and sister-in-law Scott Bourgeois and Monika Saigal. Sister-in-law Amy Sanderford and husband Aaron. Nieces Katie and Lauren Calegan; Josie and Emily Sanderford. Michelle was preceded in death by her father Thomas Bourgeois and feline son Marcellous.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Wyuka Funeral Home. The service will be livestreamed HERE.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00-8:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5:00-6:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to the family to be designated for The Cat House-Lincoln, Harvest of Books-Lincoln and Club Legacy Volleyball Scholarship-Omaha all in care of Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 O Street, Lincoln, NE 68510.

Interment Fairview Cemetery Lincoln.

  9. Michelle touched our hearts from the moment we met her. We will miss her dearly and we are very sorry that we could not be at the side of her loved ones. We embrace the family from this distance knowing that our hearts are there and our souls have been enriched by Michelle’s love of life and her relentless fight against her illness. May she rest in Peace.

    I had the pleasure working with Michelle at GitGo and she was so sweet and kind. She always brought light to our team and laughter. Every time we talked she had a way of making my day better or making me laugh. She will truly be missed. Prayers to the loved ones who will be missing such an incredible woman who I know not only touched my heart at work but in each and everyone’s lives who had the pleasure of knowing her.

    I am absolutely heartbroken to hear about Michelle’s passing. Even though we lost touch with each other over the years she has always remained in my thoughts. She was an amazing woman and will always have a special place in my heart.

  15. I am deeply saddened by Michelle’s passing. She was an amazing person. I first met her at bus stop for MBS in 6th grade. Michelle lived down the road, and I was the new kid who had recently moved to Baton Rouge. The changes were rough but Michelle was a big help. Our friendship continued through the years and I was so happy when she went Woodlawn. There her passion for volleyball grew exponentially. She was an amazing spirit and will be deeply missed!

  16. She was such a special person, full of kindness and fun. I had the joy of working with her during some of my first years as a teacher. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

    I can’t help but think of this Maya Angelou quote and how true it is for Michelle, as she brought so much happiness to the world- her memory will continue to bring joy to many.

    • Even though I never met you, I wish you were still here. Robert still has a tough time with you being gone. Even the responses he made me read about you.. you seemed like an amazing person. One day.. I hope to go to your grave and honor your memory. You were gone too soon.
