Owen D. Humphress

Owen Dempsey Humphress age 88 of Lincoln passed away on September 27, 2023.  He was born May 26, 1935 in Yuma, Kentucky to Edward and Ellen Reynolds Humphress.

Owen retired from General Electric in Louisville, Kentucky in 1991 after 36 years and was a Chief Steward for IUE/CWA Local 83761.  He spent his retirement years working for the GE retirees, traveling, volunteering for AARP and working for numerous political campaigns.  He was a Mason, 32nd degree Scottish Rite and Kentucky Colonel.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bobby Humphress; sisters, Nannie Gabehart, Betty Jones and Christine Elkins.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Lane Humphress, son and daughter-in-law; Glenn and Tonda Humphress, granddaughters; Rebecca and Cassie Humphress, grandson; Alex Humphress, brother and sister-in-law; Charles and Rebecca Humphress.

Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Wyuka Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, October 2nd.  The funeral service will be LiveStreamed.  You can watch by clicking HERE.

Interment will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

  3. Linda , I am so sorry to receive this email. You both meant so much to me. Owen was such a good friend to Gary and me. My heart is breaking for you and your family.
