Paul Victor Smith

Paul Victor Smith age 71 and one month of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Tabitha Journey House in Lincoln. He was born on May 3, 1942 at Knoxville, Tennessee.  He was baptized at the Fridley Creek in Sweetwater, Tennessee at the age of nine.  His biological parents were Joseph R. Hope and Gladys Cupp and his adoptive parents were John W. and Kate Smith of Sweetwater, Tennessee.  Paul’s life partner since 1997 is Janice (nee Hoefer) Walker.

Paul was a truck driver for many years.  He worked at several other jobs after retiring from trucking.  He was a volunteer at Tabitha Health Services and was the recipient of Tabitha’s Presidential Volunteer Award for ten years of faithful service.  Paul’s hobbies included collecting toy cars, stuffed animals and reading.  He was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

Mourning his death and celebrating his life are his life partner, Janice of Lincoln; sister, Betty Lee Hope of Knoxville, TN; sister-in-law, Norma Hope of Loudon, TN; stepson, Larry (Debra) Stotts of Lincoln; step-daughter, Barbara (Bill) Pickerill of Lincoln and 4 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Earl in 2011 and a cousin, Luther Harper.

May Paul rest in God’s eternal peace.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family present.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, 2225 Washington St.

Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family or Grace Lutheran Church.

  1. Paul was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He always had a kind word to say, and we all considered him to be an important member of our famly. God Bless you, Paul, rest in peace.
