Rhonda Cann

Rhonda Kay Cann, 74, died on April 3, 2023.  Born January 8, 1949, in Terre Haute, Indiana, and lived in Kentucky; Tucson, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Phoenix, Arizona, before settling in Lincoln, Nebraska.  She married Robert E. Cann, Jr. on January 25, 1969.

She was a beautiful soul inside and out, who had a deep love for God, His word, her family, and her friends. She took a keen interest in her grandkids and did whatever she could to become better acquainted with their passions, being there for them as often as she could. In high school, she was a competitive artistic roller skater and worked for the National Roller Skating Museum later in life.  She enjoyed barbershop and acapella music, singing in the University Chorus and Sweet Adeline groups.  Rhonda worked as administrative staff for various mental health clinics around Lincoln and supported her husband’s business in similar capacities.  She learned all she could about Jewish history and WWII, enjoyed junk-store shopping, tinkering around in her yard, and following the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Rhonda is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Bryce Cann (Rebecca Markert), and Rob Cann (Laura Fitzpatrick); and 5 grandchildren, Meredith, Lukas, Marissa, Molly, and Mason.

Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2023, at 9:30 AM, a Celebration of Life will begin at 10:30 AM, all at Wyuka Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln.

    • I never had the pleasure of meeting Rhonda but have heard many beautiful stories from my niece Marianne Blackwell about what an amazing person and friend Rhonda was to her. I know the Cann family has meant very much to Marianne and Seth and I’m grateful for their love and support for them. I know Rhonda will be greatly missed by so many. May the Lord’s promises and your memories sustain you during this difficult time.

  3. As neighbors for nearly 30 years, Rhonda shared with us tears, much laughter, sad stories, joyous stories, and love of the outdoors. We all poked fun at ourselves and each other all in the name of good fun. She and Bob helped me through an extremely rough time in my life, and for that I thank them both.
Rhonda we will miss you desperately.
You and your family will always be held close to our hearts. You were a true friend.

  6. We are next door neighbors back here in ABQ. We, Neighbor across the street did the most, did our best to watch over her Mom, Miss Evelyn, as I referred to her, especially after her son passed.

Rhonda, Bob, and then Rob, his son Lukas (with a K), and Bryce. These people worked endlessly to try and settle the estate back here.

Rhonda was and always will be a very special person and memory to our neighborhood. That also goes for her & Bob’s incredible family.

    God bless all.

  9. Rhonda was not only a neighbor, she was a true friend. Our long walks over the years talking about values, morals, and religion will forever stay as a fond memory I have of her. I am so saddened to have just now learned of her death. Her soul was a beautiful addition to this world and it will continue to bring light to the world.
