Robert Lyle Smith

Robert Lyle Smith age 66 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Monday, August 20, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Omaha.  He was born on April 11, 1946 in Lincoln to Harold P. and June (Strubble) Smith.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  Robert was a custodial supervisor for over 35 years at Southeast Community College and Harris Laboratories.  He was a member of the VFW and DAV.

Robert is survived by the love of his life of 36 years, Marlyn Salyer of Lincoln; daughter, Nicholette Smith of Lincoln; son, Tony Smith of Lincoln; grandchildren, Amanda, AJ, Jessey and Miranda; brother, Lee G. Smith of California.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Bobby Lee.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 4:00 P.M. t0 8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

  2. I worked with “Smitty” for many years at Harris. He was a very good man on the job, and always cheerful and enjoyable to be around. His co-workers enjoyed him and wherever he was there were smiles. My sympathies to the family. Jim McClurg
