Ronald Dean White

Ronald Dean White, 73, of Thornton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2021, while being cared for at home by loved ones and hospice care after a difficult battle with cancer.

Ron was born on September 6, 1947, to Richard (Dick) and Virginia White, in Sioux City, Iowa. He was the second of three children with an older brother Larry and a younger sister Cindy. He has 3 half-brothers, Randy, Russ, and Jason, and 2 half-sisters Barb and Bonnie.

Ron graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1965. He was a business owner, operating his transport company Whiteline Express and working for Subaru and other transportation companies. He did long-haul trucking all over the country and especially enjoyed shorter routes up through the mountain towns of Colorado.

He married Dallene Rider in 1970 and had a daughter, Lisa Marie. They moved to Colorado, divorcing in 1972. He later met and married Cynthia Ann Benker in 1978, gaining in-laws Del, Ann, Ward, Miles, Mel, and Sherry.  Ron and Cindy had two sons, Darren Matthew in 1981 and Bryan James in 1985, making Thornton, Colorado, their home for 43 years. In 2019, through an ancestry DNA test, he found out that in 1968 he had had another son, Brent Michael Hicks, and welcomed him as part of the family.

Ron was a funny, kind, and generous man who loved his family, Jesus, and Nebraska and Colorado sports teams.

His wish was to be cremated and laid to rest in Lincoln at Wyuka Cemetery, next to his mom and in Lincoln because he was a big Husker fan.  Ron loved the balloon release after the first touchdown at Husker football games, so the family felt it was fitting to release red balloons at the private graveside memorial as they say their goodbyes for now, looking forward to seeing Ron again in heaven someday.

Ron is predeceased by his parents and a brother Terry who died at the age of 2.  He is survived by his siblings, Larry (Marty) of Glendale, Arizona; Cindy Kramer of Lincoln, Nebraska; Barb (Mike) Giles of Maryville, Tennessee; Bonnie (Brian) Rusch of Holstein, Iowa; Russ (Diana) of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; Randy (Rosann) of Sanford, North Carolina; and Jason (Heather) Comer of Wakefield, Nebraska. his wife, Cynthia Ann (Benker), sons Darren and Bryan, and granddaughters Hannah, Riley and Aubrey all of Colorado; a daughter, Lisa (Rick) Wilen and granddaughters Ashlynn, Jenna, and Holly, all of Palmyra, Nebraska; son Brent (Angela) Hicks and sons Darrin and T.J., all of Celina, Texas; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
