Wallace Stewart Livers

Wallace Stewart Livers, 80, of Lincoln passed away peacefully on March 8, 2020.  Stewart was born on October 29, 1939, in Ponca, Nebraska to Wiltrude (Hecker) and Wallace Livers.  He graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1957 in Missouri Valley, Iowa, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Midland College in 1962.  He worked in the IT Departments at Lincoln Liberty Life Insurance Company, Woodmen Accident and Life Insurance Company (Assurity), and Ameritas.  Stewart retired from Ameritas in 2012.

Stewart especially enjoyed watching the Nebraska Huskers. He was a longtime supporter of the volleyball, football, and the men’s and women’s basketball programs. He volunteered at the LPS Emergency Pantry, and enjoyed distributing backpacks at Saratoga Elementary School. During the summer he loved going up to the lake in Minnesota where he would look forward to catching “that big one”.

Stewart is survived by his wife of 53 years, Claudia; son Kevin; daughter Jennifer; and granddaughter Isabel; brother-in-law Mark Westphalen (LuAnn) all of Lincoln.  Step-brothers Robert (Julie) of Des Moines, Iowa; James (Diana) of Red Wing, Minnesota; John (Linda) of Maple Grove, Minnesota; nieces, nephews and many family members and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard; aunt and uncle, Verona and Hugh Rangeler.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at Southwood Lutheran Church, 4301 Wilderness Hills Blvd.  Private family inurnment at Wyuka Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, Southwood Lutheran Church, or to the Lincoln Food Bank c/o the Backpack Program.

  7. Claudia, so sorry to read about Stu’s passing. We are so glad we met both of you through volleyball. Now we’ll remember the last time we saw Stu, he came down to see us at one of the women’s basketball game. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  10. In the past several months I had the privilege to meet and play bridge with Stewart. I noticed his gentleness, and the friendship he showed me. Wish I could have known him much longer.

  13. My condolences to Stewart’s family. Very sorry for your loss. I remember Stewart from our days at Midland College as I was also a class of 1962 graduate. I wish I had known that he lived here in Lincoln. My very best to all of his family members as you move forward. You will always have you memories of Stewart to give you comfort. Gary Walsh

  14. Claudia and family, I was saddened to learn of Stu’s passing. Although the memories are distant they are still fond ones of Stu and Claudia laughing and having a grand time with my parents. My best to all of you as you navigate this difficult time.

  15. Dear Claudia, I was so saddened to hear about Stu’s passing. I know what a difficult time you are going through because Ann passed away about 2 years ago and it was a very hard time for me, so my thoughts and prayers are with you.

  17. Dear Claudia, Kevin, & Jennifer,
    I apologize for not writing this condolence sooner, but my daughter Jamee, her daughter Rylee, and I were in Florida and then in Minnesota at the time of Stewart’s funeral. Since returning home, we are all three self-quarantining at my house. Brian and I talked about how much both of us enjoyed visiting with you at the UNL volleyball games. We also have fond memories of the boys’ time at Northeast. Brian and I were both surprised and sorry to hear that Stew had passed away. You have our sympathy and prayers. Pat and Brian Etherton
