Becky Renae Robeson

Becky Renae Buls Robeson entered this world on July 9, 1957, completing a loving family of five. She was the youngest of three daughters born to Don and Lea Buls, who were overjoyed to raise their three sweet girls together.

Becky’s childhood was filled with adventure and togetherness. Her father, Don, had a love for travel and created countless memories by taking the family on the road. From camping trips in a pop-up camper to later travels in a trailer and eventually a Travco, their journeys became treasured family stories. Because Becky’s birthday fell in the summertime, she often celebrated in special places – Rapid City and Mount Rushmore, Lake Okoboji, and even Colorado. One of her most cherished memories was spending Christmas in Florida on Sanibel Island, where she loved collecting seashells and built a collection that lasted a lifetime.

Family was at the heart of Becky’s upbringing. Friday nights were known as “Family Fun Night” in the Buls household, a tradition filled with laughter and togetherness. Her mother, Lea, was a devoted homemaker and an incredible cook and baker. Coming home from school to the smell of fresh caramel cinnamon rolls was a joy the girls never forgot. Becky inherited that love of baking and found happiness in creating delicious treats to share with others.

As the years passed, the sisters grew and built lives of their own. Despite the changes, they remained close, gathering often to celebrate birthdays, Christmases, and milestones while raising their own families and pursuing their careers.

In more recent years, Becky entered a beautiful new chapter of life. After time and distance, she and her son were able to start fresh, building a relationship filled with meals shared, trips taken, laughter, and meaningful memories. Since 2018, they made it a point to get together at least twice each year to share a meal, a simple tradition that became deeply special to them both.

In September 2019, newly enjoying a sense of freedom after her divorce, Becky road-tripped all the way from Lincoln, Nebraska, to Denver, Colorado, to visit her son. He took her to a Colorado Rockies baseball game and splurged on wonderful seats. Becky was so grateful, and it was sweet to see how much those moments meant to her.

Later that same year, Becky met Evan, her son’s girlfriend at the time and now his wife, during a visit for a Husker football game. That Sunday morning, they all met at Village Inn for breakfast. It became one of those cherished, unforgettable meals – Becky, her son, and Evan gathered around the table, the beginning of a bond that would only continue to grow.

After a few years apart during the pandemic, her son and Evan moved from Denver to San Jose, California. No more than three months after their move, Becky came to see them in the Bay Area. At the time, Evan was working in Wyoming as Director of Pediatrics at Wyoming Medical Center and was flying back and forth from Casper to Denver to San Jose. They secretly arranged for Becky to be on the same plane as Evan so the two could sit together as a complete surprise. The look on Becky’s face was pure joy.

That California trip became another treasured memory. Becky was taken to San Francisco to see the sights, and she was especially excited to see the Golden Gate Bridge. After a full day of visiting the beach and exploring the city, they returned home and enjoyed the perfect quiet evening together – watching episode after episode of House Hunters after such a big day.

One of the crown jewels of this special era in Becky’s life was Evan and her son’s wedding in Kennebunkport, Maine, in September 2023. Becky thrived meeting so many people at once. She was a bright light, and her son felt proud to introduce her to Evan’s friends and extended family. Their mother-son dance was to Willie Nelson’s rendition of Kermit the Frog’s “Rainbow Connection.” It was a tender and joyful moment. The tears flowed, and Becky beamed with happiness.

In recent years, it was a true joy to see Becky flourish. She embraced life fully and found deep connection within her circle of friends, relationships that meant so much to her. In her final months at Aviva Woodlands, Becky quickly formed meaningful friendships and became a beloved presence. Her kind heart, gentle spirit, and warm smile touched both residents and staff alike. It was clear to all who knew her that she was truly cherished.

Becky blossomed beautifully in her later years, and it brought great happiness to see her so loved by so many. Her life was one of warmth, kindness, gratitude, and connection – qualities that will be remembered and treasured always.

A public visitation will be held on Monday July 13, 2026, at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” street, Lincoln, Nebraska, from 5-8 PM.
