Linda Ann Lovgren Gallagher was born on August 31, 1949, to Dr. Robert and Dorothy Lovgren. She died peacefully on the morning of June 30, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by quiet strength and a lasting love for family, friendship, books, music, and the small joys that make a home.–
Linda was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. A 1967 graduate of Westside High School, she went on to attend the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. In 1971, she began her career at National Crane in Lincoln. After her children started school, Linda became a dedicated volunteer with the Lincoln Library and eventually worked there part-time, a fitting role for someone who found such joy in books and in sharing that joy with others.

Over the years, she collected a library of her own, filling her home with stories, knowledge, and comfort. Cats were longtime and much-loved members of the Gallagher household, which came as no surprise to those who knew that Linda had grown up surrounded by a menagerie of dogs, cats, and other animals.

She also found beauty and satisfaction in creating things by hand. Linda learned to needlepoint and made many beautiful gifts throughout the years, each one reflecting her patience and care. She frequently participated in activities with her local needlepoint group and enjoyed the friendships and creativity that came with it. Later, when time allowed, she began working puzzles and approached them with the same persistence and quiet determination that she brought to so many parts of her life.

Linda was also beloved by a longtime group of friends who affectionately nicknamed her “Luvvy.” She treasured time spent with them at get-togethers, folk music, jazz concerts, and in the easy companionship of friendship built over many years. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her.

Linda is survived by her son, Robert Gallagher; brother, John Lovgren and his wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Caden Gallagher, Zoe Gallagher, Layna Gallagher, and Aeon Gallagher Casteel; sisters-in-law, Linda Lovgren and Frances Lee Gallagher; as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A private burial willl be held later.
Luvvy was a college friend at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. We were in the dorm together where we shared lots of humor among our group of friends. We stayed in touch from time to time and in more recent years shared Zoom visits with a small group of dorm friends.
I will miss Luvvy. And I would like to share that she highly recommended the book “River”, a novel by Lowen Clausen. She was very eager for me to read it and mailed it to me. I loved it. Some of the story line follows Luvvy’s life story, although she did not know that this would be the case when she recommended it.
Linda was the mom of one of the best friends a person could have, and was always looking out for our group of friends. She was a wonderful person, and the fact that she still supported me and came to see things that I did as an adult, even after her son (my friend) passed, shows just how caring and giving she was. The Gallagher family were all really nice and I’m sure she’ll be missed. But, I’m heartened by the thought that now she’ll get to be with Carl and Michael again. I know how much she missed them.
