Carl Wendell Medley

Carl W. Medley, age 75, of Lincoln died September 19, 2012.  He was born February 22, 1937 in Belmont County, Ohio to John and Betty (Stidd) Medley.  Carl served 20 years in the Air Force with the 355th fighter squadron , he was stationed in Lincoln, Germany, Indiana, Thailand, Tucson, Arizona and Libya.  He was married for 51 years to Marceline Shaw Medley.  After his retirement from the Air Force, Carl was involved with the Lighthouse and Cedars Home for Children and the forester’s as a volunteer.  He loved to go camping and belonged to two camping clubs, Courageous Rambler and Vagabond. 

Carl is survived by his wife, Marceline of Lincoln; Sons and Daughters-in-law: Carl Jr. and Brenda Medley of Crete, Craig and Krystal Medley of Dorchester, Willam (Bill) Medley of Ft. Riley, Kansas.  Daughters and Son-in-law: Teresa Medley of Lincoln, Donna and John Reifschneider of Lincoln.  Mother-in-law: Pearl Shaw of Lincoln, 16 Grandchildren, 2 Great grandchildren plus two more on the way.  Sisters-in-law and Spouses: Joyce and John Mikesh of Osage, Minnesota, Judy Mikesh of Omaha, Cariel and Doug Churchill of Omaha.  Nieces and Nephews.  Uncle: Don Hetrick and family of Lincoln.  Many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Juanita Sipes, father-in-law: Lawrence Shaw and brother-in-law: Vince Mikesh.  He will be missed by all.

Services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. in Wyuka Funeral Home.  Visitation will be on Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Interment with military honors will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

  1. It is with great sadness to hear of Carl’s passing as he was a good co-worker and friend. I salute a fellow airman who served his country with honor and helped his fellow veterans and so many others.

  2. I live in the same building with you, I always enjoyed speaking with Carl down by the mail box.. He was a very interesting person to talk with. I know he will be greatly missed…

  4. I have been locking for Carl for sometime. I am sadden to hear
    of his passing . I worked for him when I was in the Air Forcr in Germany.
