Kenneth D. Boelter

It is with a heavy heart that we announce Ken, 76, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Addington Place in Des Moines, Iowa. Ken battled Alzheimer’s disease for many years.

Kenneth Duane Boelter was born on October 30, 1946 in Dodge, Nebraska, the 4th of 5 children to Robert and Geraldine Boelter.

Ken went to school for welding and was one of the best. He worked most of his career at Nebraska Boiler as a welder, lead and fork-lift truck operator. He enjoyed playing practical jokes on his co-workers and going to what he called the “Old Farts Breakfast Club” after retiring.

Ken loved his family, his dogs, drag racing and the Nebraska Huskers. He spent countless hours in his garage building race cars with his son, Bryan, watching Nascar, going to the race-track or talking about all sports. He enjoyed going to family gatherings to play Pitch and was competitive in anything he did. During retirement he took his dogs for walks at the park, was a devout Catholic attending church nearly every day, loaned tools to neighbors and talked about cars to anyone who would listen.

He was easy to talk to, always had a smile on his face and willing to fight for what he thought was right. Ken will be remembered for his undying loyalty, sense of humor and stubbornness. He never wanted to be a burden on anyone and was always willing to lend a helping a hand.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Boelter and Geraldine Boelter; brother, Ronald Boelter of Las Vegas, NV and sister Judy Arnold of Bellevue, Nebraska.

Ken is survived by son Bryan Boelter (Julie) and 9 grandchildren: Cheyenne, Leo, Adaliene, Mila, Theodore, Ella, Zeke, Bodie and Lucille; sister, Carolyn Swantek of Columbus, Nebraska; brother, Robert Boelter of Granbury, Texas; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 10:30 am on Friday, March 24th at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church 6111 Morrill Ave, Lincoln, NE 68507
