Robert “Bob” Gene Riddle

January 16, 1933 – November 15, 2021

Bob Riddle, 88, passed away November 15, 2021 in Poway, CA. Bob was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. He worked as a sterotyper at the Lincoln Journal Star, a real estate appraiser at Commercial Federal Savings & Loan, owned a Daylight Donut shop and eventually retired from a job at Shopko.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a lifelong member of the American Legion. Bob loved Cornhusker Football and, after retiring, he and Joyce loved to travel.

Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce, son Rob (wife Lan); daughter Chris Urban (husband Tom); grandchildren Tina Conger (husband Chris); Anna Vaughn (husband Landon); four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ruby Thelander and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Ida, his brother, Kenneth and his sister, Marge Potts.

Burial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on March 26th at Wyuka Cemetery 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln, NE. Memorial service with military honors will be at 11:00 A.M. in Wyuka Chapel followed by a lunch to visit with family and friends.

  1. My deepest sympathy to Joyce, Rob and Chris and families. A very special person in my life . Never a Sunday that Bob did not stop and ask how I was, how my job was. A very sincere man. He showed his care for others by always acknowledging those he met. He will be missed by so many,

  2. I worked with Bob for 9 years at the Journal-Star. He was always a great friend and so much fun to work with. My heart goes out to his family during the loss of such a special man. Thanks for all the good times Bob and Rest in Peace.

    I was saddened to hear of your loss.
    Although I have not had contact with you and Bob for many years I remember when we were neighbors on 44th Street and when you both were connected in real estate one way or another. One does not forget those friends who were part of your life

  4. You are always in my thoughts and especially tomorrow during a significant time while putting Bob to rest. I’m certain he will be smiling in heaven knowing how much he was loved during his life on earth. Stay strong, stay well.

  5. Joyce and family——————-So sorry to hear about Bob—–He always had a smile for everyone. I enjoyed working with him at Commercial Federal and even after whenever we ran into each other he was always interested in how I was. Our sympathy goes out to you!!

  6. Joyce and family, I was so sorry to hear about Bob. Didn’t get a chance to see you much, but I always enjoyed it when I could sit with you both and chat, I always enjoyed Bob’s company. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
