Sharon Lynn Brown

April 25, 1939 – March 4, 2024

Sharon Lynn Brown was born on April 25, 1939 in Washington State and passed away on March 4, 2024 at Legacy Assisted Living in Lincoln, Nebraska.  She was 84 years old.  She is survived by her children: daughter Constance Yarbrough and husband Scott Yarbrough; daughter Christine Shour and husband Richard Shour; son Andrew Brown and his partner Jill Schurr; granddaughter Estelle Agena and her partner Joe Hasan; grandson Nolan Agena, great-granddaughter Amelia Agena-Hasan, great-grandson Alistair Agena-Hasan and nieces, nephews and many cousins.  She is preceded in death by her parents Roland and Ruth Abrams, her brother Ronald Abrams, sister-in-law Geraldine Abrams, husbands Richard Thomas and Gary Brown.

She graduated from Elmwood High School in 1957.  She never met a bully she wouldn’t confront or a “no trespassing” sign that she wouldn’t defy.  She was a snake handler, a plant whisperer, a reader, a Nebraska Volleyball girls’ fan and an ice cream lover.  She was the imagination behind the invention of the salt sucker for those of you with high blood pressure so you can eat all the salt you want with no consequences.  She was a Petunia-lovin’, tomato juice drinkin’, Messiah singin’, Pioneer Park visitin’, zoo lovin’, Louis Nizer readin’, nippers collectin’, tiny silverware usin’, onesie wearin’, amaryllis-buyin’ great grandmother.  She was a Republican when young and a Democrat later in life.  She was a traveler: Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Monaco, Jamaica, the Bahamas and all over the US.  She loved to drive. Her favorite job was as a travelling saleswoman selling aerial photographs.  She worked in the Nebraska State Legislature, as a secretary, selling shoes at Dillard’s, at Elegant Optics selling eyeglasses and on countless political campaigns.

The funeral service for Sharon Brown is scheduled for March 28, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Wyuka Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3600 “O” Street, Lincoln, NE 68510.  Sympathy cards may be sent to: Christine Shour, 21650 Plum Creek Drive, Gretna, NE 68028.
