Terry James Fletcher beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband of Branson, Missouri, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 88.
Terry graduated from Omaha Tech High School in 1953. After graduation, Terry enlisted into the Coast Guard where he served actively from 1953 to 1957, becoming an Electrician’s Mate Third Class in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1961. We cherish the service he provided. On December 26, 1953 Terry married his high school sweetheart Virginia Hering. They had four children. After the marriage ended Terry married Armiltia (Millie) Neuhaus. She had two children he adopted. Terry and Millie made cross country trips in their camper and joined a camping group. They settled in Branson, MO. Millie passed away in 2013. Terry married JoAnne Graham and they made their home in Branson, MO. Terry worked for the U.S. Postal Service in both Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska from 1957 until retiring as the Manager of Maintenance in 1992. As a hobby, he owned several businesses throughout his life such as a go-kart track, bait shop, ice cream shop, and a rental condo. Terry was an electrician by trade and a wizard engineer due to his thirst for knowledge of how things worked and making things work.
Terry will be remembered for his selfless giving, seeing the good in everyone, having a positive attitude, being supportive, happy all the time, considerate loving heart, and giving of himself. Terry loved to whistle. He played accordion and harmonica. Terry loved playing cards, board games, cribbage, the Huskers, hockey, cars, outdoors, dancing, being Santa, Saturday morning cartoons, late night Creature Feature on Saturday nights, and traveling. Terry enjoyed going to restaurants and tourist attractions in Branson with all visitors. Terry lived life to the fullest. But his biggest love was spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed and we appreciate all the memorable times and milestones forever.
Terry is survived by his wife JoAnne Fletcher, Branson, MO: daughter Deborah Avey (Kevin), Lincoln, NE; daughter Cindy Fletcher, Gretna, NE; son Scott Fletcher (Dawn), Irwin, IA; son Brad Fletcher, Omaha, NE; daughter Amy Fletcher, Omaha, NE; son Scott Edward Fletcher (Elise); Austin, TX; bonus daughter Sandra Hatfield (Donald), Omaha, NE; special niece Stephanie Hering, Omaha, NE; stepson Ted Graham (Nadine); Canyon, TX; stepdaughter Sheila McHenry (Edward), Farmington, NM: many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Armiltia (Millie) Fletcher; first wife, Virginia Fletcher; mother and stepfather Evelyn and Paul Slinkard; father Cecil Fletcher; grandparents Ethel and Walter Roth; grandson Tom Fletcher; greatgrandson Toby Schleimer; great-grandson Jake Fletcher; special nephew Kevin Hering.
Graveside service with military honors to be held at Wyuka Cemetery on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 10:00am. Section 47, Lot 151.
We stayed at his condo and enjoyed visiting with him. He was a nice man. We will no longer be going to the condo but will remember the good times. Condolences to the family!
